  Context:
Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s 2006 opponent, multi-millionaire self-funder Dick DeVos, ran an aggressive 10 month campaign and by June had spent millions on television that resulted in an eight point lead in the polls.

Our Work:
Working with EMILY’s List, MSHC Partners developed an innovative mail and phone program targeted to women voters statewide based on “cluster” modeling conducted by Garin Hart Yang Research. Over the course of two months, we helped EMILY’s List deliver a number of communications “sandwiches” designed to draw clear contrasts between Gov. Granholm and DeVos.

Results:
EMILY’s List conducted a post-election survey comparing our target universes to a control group which received no communications whatsoever. Compared to the control group, our target audience favored Granholm by a substantially larger margin.
